SEO Article Review

When researching articles on SEO, I learned that there are a ton of things to need to know when trying to get your site found through a search engine. and are two articles that really opened my eyes and taught me that there is a lot more to your search engine optimization than just tagging and blogging. These two unique strategies take time, but seem to have very good results. I also learned through this site, that search engines are everchanging. There were successful methods used in the past that are just not relevant anymore. By staying away from these outdated methods, your SEO can be more successful.

As with all of my blog topics, I have found a tutorial for almost everything, including SEO. This author seems to know his stuff. Once again after reading this article I was astounded at how much there is to getting your website found. This blog was very visual and the easiest to read. It gives a good how-to to users trying to get better site rankings and improve SEO. The periodic table the author made is a nice touch. Makes the article much more fun to read and easier to understand.

Pinterest Blog Review This is probably one of the most helpful blogs to use when beginning and trying to gain expertise while marketing on pinterest. Jason will keep you up to date on new pinterest features while also providing plenty of posts involving getting new users started. It’s the most useful pinterest how-to I’ve seen and I challenge anyone to find a better one. and both of these blogs provide examples and explain what not to do on pinterest. By following the checklist, you can get a pretty good idea of how to be successful while simply not doing things wrong. This blog shows some fails, as well as some pretty good pins to help marketers see what people want to see on pinterest, and what users will tend to stay away from. I’m starting to see that most of the blogs don’t give a lot of insight or how-to knowledge outside of Jason’s blog… A blog that shows how bloggers can use pinterest is great. Driving traffic to your blog in any way in is important to any business. And this author explains how pinterest can help. I found it very useful.

Location Based Social Media

I was checking out some blog posts having to do with check ins and how businesses are using them to drive up market share and gain customers. Here are some of the best five I found. This blog was one of my favorites because it explains how location based social media is changing the game for businesses. He explains that social media such as Yelp and Foursquare are shaping a new social media marketing strategies in today’s business world. The blog also clearly lays out that this strategy is really only relevant for businesses that have many locations and run out of multiple stores. For instance, a company like Wells Fargo would not benefit from a check in.

I’m a sucker for blogs that involve lists. So here in one that explains ten reasons why location-based social media is changing marketing. The three most interesting in my opinion were how the author explained that mobile marketing is still really new and hasnt been pushed to its boundaries yet, it creates a relavant message, and it allows businesses to segment people into groups based on location. While this blog provides a lot of overkill, it does make some good points and offers some good advice for businesses trying to get started with location based strategies. #1 was the most important piece of information in this blog, it shows how your business can measure how your location based strategies are working. The coupon strategy is important too, but blogs such as explain how one day, location based media will become the sunday coupon section of our newspaper.

The last blog I found rather interesting. This blog shows how B2Bs can excel with location based media. While many people believe this strategy could only have a chance working with B2Cs, because of the ability to drive customers to stores, B2Bs can also benefit. The most important point being that you can use location to explore possible partnerships.

Developing a Social Media Strategy

5 articles I researched on developing a social media strategy all provided some very good insight. showed a very simplified way to look at a social media strategy and explained some very helpful tips to get a marketer starte with social media. The most important was the part about selecting metrics to tell whether or not the marketing strategy is successful or not. Why do it if it isn’t working?

The next article on social media strategy,, explained how to make infographics and how to get your social media posts to stand out. This can be very helpful since a lot of social media marketing is very visual. People don’t want to just read text, infographics stand out well. was the next article I read on this topic. The author gives some very good insight from a very professionally experienced perspective. Once again explaining to value metrics in evaluating your marketing efforts as well as analyzing results, this article brought it one step further and explained how to work with the results to make the efforts work.

The next article I read showed a successful effort that went viral and how it all happened. shows how a marketing team used twitter and facebook to make the batkid event in san francisco a huge marketing success. Securing some important twitter handles can really help to promote a business.

The final article gives future marketers a starting point and explains how to set up realistic goals when using social media for marketing efforts. I also like how it explains that participation in social media when marketing is no longer an option, it’s a must.

Blog About Blogging

I recently researched 5 articles having to do with blogging and found them very interesting. The first article I read,, gave 10 commandments/rules that every blog should follow. Rules such as you should post every day, you should remember you’re trying to sell something, and to remember that the blog is simply a marketing tool.

The next article i read explained things to avoid for new bloggers. Common mistakes such as being original and not copying material from other bloggers is explained. Also the author explains that you need to know about the legal issues surrounding blogging. was the next article that appealed to me and this assignment. It provides some very useful links on techniques and motivation when writing blogs. An interesting link showed how to make your blog stand out from the crowd. This led to the next article I researched. shows bloggers different ways to make a blog more useful and unique. Pointers include not linking the same site more than once every two weeks, quoting unknown sources, and not to whine.

The final article I read explained how blogs tend to fail due to the failure of the user to keep them going. Motivation is a big factor when it comes to blogs and keeping them active. Users also tend to give up on blogs if they do not see instantaneous results.

Social Media Article Review

I recently discovered a few social media strategy articles that caught my eye and were very interesting and at some points pretty funny and entertaining. is the url of my favorite article. @simondumenco has grabbed my eye as a very talented and entertaining columnist since I have begun this class. He is the “media guy” media columnist for Ad Age: Media News. In this particular article he gives a very entertaining look into how companies are allowing their social media managers engage users on twitter.

I found the article very intriguing as it shows that companies are paying people to engage with customers on a very real level.

Another blog I’m subscribed to,, recently posted a very interesting article to consider when putting together a social media marketing plan. I enjoyed the article because it gives organizations an outline of questions to answer when putting a plan in place.
